Coconuts are a superfood. I use coconut oil as a moisturizer and cook with it as well. Coconut oil is good for your skin and hair, digestion, heart, immune system, and yes, your brain. That’s only one part of the coconut you can use and there are health benefits from all coconut products.  If you only use coconut oil . . . try fresh and dry coconut meat, coconut milk and even coconut water for more ways to incorporate coconut into your diet.

Fresh coconut meat has medium chain fatty acids which help lower bad cholesterol levels and increase levels of good cholesterol. It’s good for digestion because it’s high in fiber, also helps you feel full, which is great if you are trying to loose weight! The coconut meat also contains minerals like potassium which is necessary for proper heart function and muscle growth, copper which aids red blood cell production, and manganese which supports healthy immune and nervous systems and a stable blood sugar level.  Dried (desiccated) coconut has the same minerals as fresh, including selenium, which helps support a healthy thyroid and immune system while helping lower your risk of cancer!

Coconut water is a lightly sweet and refreshing drink. It is the way perfect to rehydrate after #WorkingYourBody and can even help with weight loss. The water is rich in electrolytes and other nutrients including calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium and sodium.

Last but not least, coconut milk is also great for weight loss, your immune system, heart health, healthy skin and hair. It’s a great alternative to regular milk, it’s lactose free and tastes great!
